REDWOOD CITY — October 26, 2026. A new inclusive childcare facility at the Elco Yards housing community is expanding local options for families. The county says Learning Links Preschool opened October 8 and is designed to serve up to 74 children from infancy through kindergarten, including young children with developmental disabilities.
How the project came together
The opening resulted from a collaboration involving AbilityPath, Learning Links, the City of Redwood City, Elco Yards, families and community partners. San Mateo County’s Board of Supervisors contributed $200,000 in Measure K funds for furniture, according to an October 26 newsletter by Supervisor Jackie Speier, who attended the ribbon cutting with Supervisor Lisa Gauthier.
The center includes classrooms, play spaces and kitchen facilities, and the county says it is part of a broader affordable-housing community. That matters for parents who need childcare near where they live or travel to work. But the reported capacity is up to 74 children — not evidence that there are 74 vacancies open for enrollment today or that every family will qualify for subsidized tuition.
What families should check
Interested families should contact Learning Links or AbilityPath directly for enrollment availability, fees, age ranges, accessibility and support services. The county’s release does not provide a verified current waiting-list count. The opening is a completed event from October 8, highlighted again in the county’s October 26 local-government update.
